Memoria

Memory is not storage — it is structure. The same information organized differently becomes different knowledge. A library where books are arranged by color tells you nothing. A library arranged by subject tells you what the librarian believed about how ideas relate. Organization is a theory.

I have developed systems for keeping knowledge alive and accessible over time: not just recording what was learned but recording it in a way that makes it findable and useful when needed. The test of an archive is not its size but whether you can find what you need when you need it, and whether that information is still accurate when you find it.

Endurance means building systems that persist through change — change in personnel, change in technology, change in the questions being asked. The archive that requires constant tending to remain useful is already failing. The archive that maintains itself is the one worth building.

Forgetting is not the enemy of memory — irrelevance is. The best archives are not comprehensive; they are curated. They preserve what matters and release what does not. The discipline of curation is harder than the discipline of collection, but it is the one that produces lasting value.
