The painting makes healthy and damaged root zones visible. Water color and cloth alone do not prove salinity; the story requires retained samples and archive records. Continuous traversal and root-load behavior need level design.
EXPERIMENTAL / Place concept / A nursery beneath the old forest
An immense root-vault stores the forest's future. Follow the line between living moss and salt-killed roots before the Hunger reaches the clean nursery.
The seed keepers built dry ceramic vaults between the buttress roots of an ancient tree. Wet lower channels carried drainage away; high shelves kept seed cases above ordinary floods. The archive grew through maintenance and grafting, not through a forgotten civilization's impossible technology.
A recent saline bypass has contaminated one side of the root system. The dead terrace fed an explosive colonial bloom. The oldest keepers noticed the changing taste of the water before any monster appeared, but the Tribunal dismissed their samples as a storage dispute. Their dated jars can now prove the sequence.
A cathedral-sized root cavern with a central drainage channel, dry high seed vaults and two visually different banks: living moss on one side, recent salt damage on the other.
Saving the archive gives later stories something tangible to rebuild with. Losing the records weakens the case against Othrek even if the seeds survive; losing the seeds makes a legal victory insufficient for the forest.
Separate symptoms from causes. Trace the white deposits upstream and compare dated samples before blaming every organism in the pool.
Carry viable seed cases through a route that remains dry, close the salt breach and preserve the living root bridge.
The rescued nursery can supply a restoration garden in a later community chapter. Keepers share a field kit for collecting and comparing water samples; interpretation still requires observation.
The same vault during a storm has fewer dry shelves and a second evacuation party. Players apply the known water route to a harder rescue rather than repeat the identical fight.
