dungeon / The harbour has teeth / Worldbuilding concept
An occupied drydock is building a blockade fleet over the feeding ground of a hull-breaking predator. The captives constructing the ships know where the admiral’s timetable can be broken.
The arsenal began as a communal storm refuge and became a fleet works when a new inland road connected its timber supply. Draeven seized it to launch a Void Ascendant blockade. His heavy pile-driving displaced the harbour predator; he now uses feeding alarms to punish escape attempts, making cruelty a tactical choice with an identifiable mechanism.
Cliffside drydocks contain rain-slick gantries, suspended keels and chain capstans above tidal arches. Sea gates establish clear changes in water height. Each upper route has an observable lower consequence when a load is released.
Read capstan gearing, coordinate tide windows and cross under suspended loads only after pinning their brakes. A controlled premature launch blocks the admiral’s fleet without sinking the workers’ evacuation boats. Release the predator into the open tide by removing the vibration source rather than herding it through inhabited docks.
Harbour crews call the first refuge berth a promise that no storm boat would be turned away.
The occupiers recast that promise as a duty to provide ships to whoever can defend the coast.
Press rosters and launch orders show how the original refuge became coerced fleet production.
Some early berth claims cannot be authenticated; liberation does not automatically resolve every later ownership dispute.
