Two expeditions must agree on custody while the seed vault thaws around them. Brigid’s rivalry with Kethrane becomes a workable alliance only when both crews accept visible losses and shared transport obligations.

The mountain court can open the final route, but its old apparatus contradicts the terms of a fair trial. Brigid wins a passage and accepts a public maintenance duty, making the compact more durable than her own reputation.

1. Names in the Quiet Bell

An occupied burial avenue hides a siege calibration method. Saving the quieter annex yields supply references to a vanished road survey, while destroying it leaves a faster but less provable trail.

2. A Stair Without an Answer

The missing surveyors are trapped in a bounded impossible chamber. Their recovery provides an alternate exterior road plan; Jolant refuses to invent an origin story to make the report seem complete.

3. The Road at the Edge

Records from the bells, survey and harbour campaign reveal a local bridge interdiction. Sabine and Jolant use that knowledge to protect a frontier convoy, ending at the exterior road with Malachar’s prison untouched.
