dungeon / Where the current enters / Worldbuilding concept
A drowned garrison has dammed the only warm current feeding an immense filter reef. Divers seeking a winter sea route must choose which military works to dismantle before the reef collapses.
A coastal fort was abandoned to a rising sea; centuries of filter growth transformed its parade vault into a reef. A later occupying force anchored an enchanted standard across the inlet and drowned when its commanders refused evacuation. Residual Shadow corruption binds Morvane to that obstruction, not to a newly opened connection with Malachar.
Ancient black stairs run through younger living limestone ribs. Traversal alternates between air pockets, submerged bridges and a cobalt central gulf; pressure doors create explicit safe transitions. The giant shell valve is a living filter, not a treasure chest.
Move between bounded breath stations, anchor before pressure changes and follow suspended silt to identify current direction. The descent remains accessible after combat. Opening the inlet increases visibility and food transport while making the return swim faster and more dangerous.
Divers call the reef a cathedral built by the sea for people who never received burial.
Old garrison songs insist the fort was given to the water by a victorious commander.
The inundation ledger records a refused evacuation, and the filter reef is younger than the stairs.
The first singer of the drowned dedication is unknown; the reef’s biological history does not decide that authorship.
