dungeon / A border the forest never accepted / Worldbuilding concept
An old survey cut divides a canopy expedition from its supplies. A rival hunter has claimed the only safe aqueduct, while a breeding arthropod uses its piers as a territorial drum.
An early road authority cleared a ruler-straight passage and abandoned it when the ravine bridges failed. The surviving aqueduct became a migration corridor. Recent mineral surveys reopened the scar, concentrating traffic and arthropod territorial responses in the same narrow place.
A straight survey scar intersects a sinuous stone aqueduct suspended over ravines. The white watch platform remains visible through changing canopy layers. Deliberate long sightlines alternate with close roots, so hunter and prey gain different advantages.
Traverse rope routes with wind direction in mind; an unweighted line carries less noise than stone. Cutters shorten the route but expose the party to Serevra’s range. Reopen the old water channel to mask footfalls and let an escort pass without destroying the nesting piers.
The surveyors tell a founding tale about a line so straight the forest agreed to move aside.
Canopy crews say the line survives only because generations of workers keep apologising with repairs.
Boundary nails occur inside later tree growth; the restored water channel, not an oath, makes the crossing quiet.
No surviving map establishes the first agreement between the road authority and the canopy settlements.
